Kurt Moll (born in Buir close to Cologne the April 11th 1938) is a low German (opera and Oratorio S).

Of all low allemandes having begun their career after the Second world war, Kurt Moll most famous and the most are undoubtedly celebrated. In testify a particularly plethoric discography as much (mainly the repertory austro-German, but also the Angel of Fire of Prokofiev, Lady Macbeth de Mtsensk of Chostakovitch), as well as a series of uninterrupted international engagements between 1970 and 2000.

It could have excelled in Verdi of which it carried out only few recordings ( Forza LED destino under the direction of James Levine, Rigoletto under the rod of Carlo Maria Giulini).

The voice full, cordial, round and very lyric of Kurt Moll is recognizable between all. Contrary to his large predecessor Gottlob Frick, the singer interpreted only seldom the roles of malicious, his talent residing rather in the field of the comedy or the roles of wise. Its Baron Ochs ( the Knight with the pink ) and his Gurnemanz ( Parsifal ) have rivals with the disc only those of Hans Hotter and Ludwig Weber. It is helped in that by a physique débonnaire without being grassouillet, contrary to that of Frick, therefore, but near to that of Weber.

Equipped with a very broad tessiture (of serious C - to see the role of the Baron Ochs - to acute F - for example in the Creation of Joseph Haydn), its voice is also homogeneous.

It has exceptional qualities of stability and grain, undoubtedly higher than that of its predecessors for whom it does not hide however its respect.

In 1983, Moll is first the true low one to record the Voyage from winter of Franz Schubert.

Kurt Moll announces his withdrawal of the lyric scenes in July 2006.
