The Kunsthalle of Bremen is a artistic gallery located at Bremen, in Germany.

History

The association of Arts ( Kunstverein ) of Bremen, founded in 1823, with its some 6000 members, is the organization managing of the museum. The collection could extend gradually thanks to the gifts from several patrons: of 1899 with 1906, under the direction of Eduard Gildemeister, the building was increased considerably.

The whole of Kunsthalle had to undergo a cleansing of 1996 with 1998, which caused several closings but also made it possible to build new rooms for the contemporary works of art.

Topicality

The institution, at present, plans to extend its collections to arts photographic, Vidéo and Informatique.

Great exposures dedicated to the art of the beginning of the 20th century are regularly organized (Van Gogh in 2002/2003, Monet in 2005/2006. It is envisaged to devote the year 2007 to Paula Modersohn-Becker and art with Paris.
