Athalaric (516 - October 2nd 534), king of the Ostrogoths, grandson of Théodoric Large the, became king of the Ostrogoths in Italy with died of his/her grandfather (526).

As it was only ten years old, regency was ensured by his/her mother Amalasonte. His/her mother tried to provide him an education of Roman tradition , but noble the Goth S made pressure on it so that it authorizes them to educate it as they wished it. Thus, he drank much and made many excesses, which ruined its constitution.
