Kujibiki Unbalance

Kujibiki Unbalance (くじびきアンバランス, kujibiki anbaransu ) is a series of OAV resulting from animates Genshiken . In Genshiken , Kujibiki Unbalance is one animates very popular among the main characters, who look at it and comments on it. They also buy the associated products and the Dōjinshi for adult putting in scene the main characters of animates, in particular the " President Ritsuko".

Kujibiki Unbalance is a Mise in abyme, a " play in the jeu" , since currently, except for these three OAV S, Kujibiki Unbalance really does not exist. It began like a fictitious Manga inside the manga Genshiken . When part of last was adapted animates some, Kujibiki Unbalance , animates fictitious of 26 episodes inside this universe, was carried to the screen in 3 episodes OAV, giving a small outline of what those inside Genshiken sometimes look at on their television.

The OAV include/understand the episodes, the 1,21 (episode " résumé" , commun run with the majority of the Anime S, used here as a means to give some ideas on what occurred in the preceding episodes) and 25 (it penultimate episode, first of final in two parts) from this fictitious series, which were delivered with each of the three DVD S of Genshiken .

It was announced that the second season of Genshiken , which will be diffused this autumn, will be actually the first season of Kujibiki Unbalance , with reconsidered characters.

Intrigue

Chihiro Enomoto, new with the Rikkyoin college, had much chance by gaining the possibility of integrating this school. At the time of its first meeting with Tokino Akiyama, in love with mushrooms, Chihiro has an immediate love at first sight. However, a friend of childhood, Ritsuko, falls again in love with him after her long absence. She does not have however only: others fall also in love with Chihiro and its relaxed nature, while approaching him and while learning with knowing best, lasting this one year campaign when all the students are implied.

The students of the Rikkyoin college are engaged in a one year campaign entitled the " Kujibiki" , a tournament intended to determine those which will train the next council of the pupils of the Rikkyoin college. At the beginning of the tournament, a drawing lot takes place, the students forming of the groups according to the numbers which they drew. This drawing lot also determines the positions and attributions which the students should have in the council of the pupils, if the group of which they make left were to gain Kujibiki (thus, Chihiro should become the secretary of the council of the pupils). Combat and competitions are organized between the various groups, where team work and the co-operation are essential because only one defeat is synonymous with automatic elimination of Kujibiki.

During the history, Ritsuko appears cold and indifferent towards Chihiro. However, it becomes increasingly obvious during the history which it cannot entirely deny its feelings for him

Characters

The characters of Kujibiki Unbalance often intervene through the series Genshiken . In various episodes, we can see a character in background in Cosplay of a character of Kujibiki Unbalance , apparently generally Kasumi Kisaragi. In the same way, we see some of the members of Genshiken , like Kanako Ōno in the credits of opening in cosplay of the vice-president of the council of the pupils, Kasumi Kirasagi, or Saki in cosplay of the president of the council of the pupils Ritsuko Kubel Kettenkrad in episode.

Chihiro Enomoto

The principal male character, and also, by many aspects, the principal character of Kujibiki Unbalance . It has a very good character, and it is sometimes called " Happy Fortune". His/her parents died when it was 10 years old, and since, it lives with his big sister. While having lived only, it became good in kitchen and household. Although it fell in love to the first glances with Tokino, there is always the promise of childhood which it made has Ritsuko Kubel Kettenkrad. He is the secretary of the group.

Tokino Akiyama

Coed in second year with the Rikkyoin college. It is the " présidente" group, and is thus candidate with the presidency of the next council of the pupils. Tokino adores mushrooms until obsession. Its knowledge of mushrooms is encyclopedic; she recognizes them with the sight, and has an insatiable appetite for mushrooms. One often sees it carrying a thick book: l'" World encyclopedia of the Mushrooms ". Although that does not seem obvious at first sight, the oddment shows clearly that it is due deeply to Chihiro.

Komaki Asagiri

Lend to becoming the next trésorière of the council of the pupils. She seems to be the only one to deal of her young brothers triplets and her little sister, Koyuki. Komaki is very intelligent, and discharges all the pieces of housework to hold the house for it and its phratry. As one sees it in the first OVA, she admits not to be a chief-cook, but she is very good cooker. She always carries a long scarf on her neck, the reason is unknown, and never removes it, but she that is to say the temperature, even if to swim.

Izumi Tachibana

Perhaps the next vice-president of the council of the pupils. Like his/her father, it is a player, and sometimes a genius of the play, particularly when it is about Mahjong. It is implicit that its family has bonds with gangs or the Yakuza S, but she does not appreciate that others seek to help it, and tries to live by its own means thanks to the play. The first episode teaches us that it is highly qualified in the combat with the tiles of Mahjong.

Ritsuko Kubel Kettenkrad

With German half. Ritsuko is the current president of the council of the pupils, and a friend of childhood of Chihiro. In spite of a promise of childhood (which seem to be to marry with it if it stops being a crybaby in animates, and an unknown promise in the manga) and of the obvious feelings for Chihiro, it tries to hide those to him during all the series. It carries a helmet, which seems to be the mark of its function. It seems that she was accustomed to cry much, and worked hard to stop its tears, to perhaps try to hold the promise which she made in Chihiro.

Kasumi Kisaragi

Protective of Ritsuko, it is also the vice-president, and apparently also secretary, of the current council of the pupils. Kasumi comes from a family Yakuza, and lost his/her parents when it was child. Kazumi always carries a sword. She hates to be close to people, Ritsuko seeming to be the only person who is really close to her.

Risa Hanby

Current trésorière of the council of the pupils. As Ritsuko trusts it and the draft with respect whereas few of other students of the school do it, Risa became very faithful and resolutely honest towards Ritsuko. She is originating in the United States, and thus has a kind of double citizenship.

Shinobu Enomoto

Big sister of Chihiro. She generally carries a pair of glasses, but its personality changes completely when she removes them. She is sometimes very awkward, frequently falling in the staircases, and she really seems to appreciate the Saké and to release herself out of underclothing when she does not need to be equipped.

Renko Kamishakujii

Rival of Chihiro and her team. She has a disagreement with Tokino which dates from the nursery school; at that time, Tokino had remained so much a long time with the toilets that Renko, not being able more to retain itself, had been urinated above. For this time, she has wanted to beat Tokino and to embarrass it as she itself was embarrassed. Renko has a reading rate very fast, it can read a whole book in less than one minute, but it can remember it only less than three minutes.

Yamada Kaoruko

A member of the team of Renko. Its work seems to be to try to calm Renko when it becomes over-excited, but it does not seem to often succeed.

Rokuhara Mugio

Large friend of Chihiro. Its team lost quickly, and it forever on the occasion to be opposed to the team of Chihiro.

Anecdotes

Kujibiki results in “Courte straw”.
Of the Figurine S Kujibiki Unbalance exists in the real life; these figurines strongly resemble the figurines that the characters of Genshiken buy in the credits of Genshiken . This shows has which point this “play in the play” is popular, even if it had there only three OAV of diffused apart from Genshiken .
