Kshatra is the energy of the Gods who go down on those which are right as that is written in the prayer zoroastrienne Ahuna Vairya : … and the Kshatra of Ahura goes down and becomes a shepherd for the shy person .

At the beginning of civilization Védique, the warrior was called Rājanya, rather than Kshatriya. This term was formed starting from the adjectival form Rājan meaning " gouverneur" , of the root Rāj . To compare with the Latin Rex and the German Reich .

The role of each one being assigned by its merit in order to better maximize the future of the tribe, this system becoming little by little hereditary with the sedentarisation. The priests then took a determining role by ensuring the spiritual safety of faithful and the system was rigidified. Then the birth became more important than the merit. Dice the epic time of the voices protested against this system.

Historically, of many reigns coming members from other castes or conquerors not-Hindu appeared. De facto, if they did not obtain a statute of Kshatriya and the advantages inherent in them real capacity, they invented family and clannish stories enabling them to connect their history to that of Kshatriyas famous.
