Kristin Halvorsen

Kristin Halvorsen (September 2nd 1960, Horten, Vestfold) is a political woman Norwegian, current Minister for Finance of the government of Jens Stoltenberg. She is the president of the socialist party of left or Sosialistisk Venstreparti since 1997.

Biography

The father of Halvorsen, Leif Georg Halvorsen is a business man, and his mother Marit Larsen, teaching. Halvorsen leaves graduate in Pédagogie and Criminologie and starts to work as a legal assistant. In 1982, it returns in the youth organization of the Sosialistisk Venstreparti called Sosialistisk Ungdom . She chairs the movement of 1984 1986.

In 1985, Halvorsen becomes substitute at the Norwegian Parliament (the Storting). Since 1989, it represents the district of Oslo to the Storting. It sat at the parliamentary committees on Finances (1989 - 1997), on the constitutional deals (1997 - 2001) and since 2001 at the committees on the elections and the Foreign affairs. Halvorsen is the president of the parliamentary group of the Sosialistisk Venstreparti .

In the years 2000, the surveys showed a renewal of popularity of the Sosialistisk Venstreparti (around 10%). At the time of the legislative ones of the September 12th 2005, the party nevertheless succeeded in obtaining only 8,8% of the voices. After this relative failure, certain members of the left of the party started to speak about the possibility that Halvorsen leaves its post of president. The legislative ones have nénamoins allowed the Sosialistisk Venstreparti , in coalition with the norske Arbeiderparti (left the Workers) and the Senterpartiet (left the Center) to form a coalition of government called “red-green”. It is the first time that the socialist party of left takes part in the Norwegian government. Kristin Halvorsen became Minister for Finance of the government of Jens Stoltenberg, the president of the workers party. It is the first woman to occupy this station.

Kristin Halvorsen is married with the producer and radio presenter Charlo Halvorsen. Charlo Halvorsen is known for its role of Co-organizer of the emission Revolvermagasinet between 1988 and 1992. The couple has two children.
