Krim Belkacem

Krim Belkacem was a Politician Algérie N, historical leader of the Front of national release during the war of Algerian independence. Born the September 14th 1922 with Draâ El Mizan in Kabylie, it is assassinated with Frankfurt the October 18th 1970.

Holder of a Certificate of studies to Algiers, Krim Belkacem obtains an employment near the municipality of Draa Al Mizan. His/her father, anxious of the interest of his son for the nationalist ideas, hastens his passage under the flags. The young man finds himself mobilized in 1943 in the 1 {{er}} Régiment of the Algerian Riflemen where it is promoted senior corporal.

Demobilized, Krim Belkacem adheres to the PPP (Algerian Popular party). The French authorities realizing of its influence on the population convene it the March 23rd 1947 for “ reached with the sovereignty of the State ”. After having taken the opinion of the P.P.A, it takes the maquis. Threats and retaliatory measures are exerted on his/her father who refuses to deliver his son. In reprisals, it draws up a ambush against the caïd (his/her own cousin) and thepastoral one. Thepastoral one is killed. In 1947 and 1950 it is judged for various murders and is condemned to died by Contumace. It becomes responsible for the PPP MTLD for all the Kabylie and with the head of the 22 men of the maquis who compose his staff it multiplies the direct contacts with the militants and the population.

Its nearer collaborator is Amar Ouamrane. The June 9th 1954, Krim meets with Algiers Mostefa Ben Boulaïd, then Mohammed Boudiaf and Didouche Mourad, which manages to convince it of the need for a third force.

It makes an agreement with the five persons in charge of the group of the 22 breaks with Messali Hadj in August 1954, without holding with the current the militants of its initiative. Become the sixth member of the interior direction of the F.L.N the six historical leaders, Krim is the person in charge of the zone of Kabylie at the time of the release of the insurrection, on November 1st 1954.

It enters with the C.E.E the shortly after the Congrès of Soummam in 1956 and dominates the FLN- ALN in 1958-1959 as vice-president of the GPRA (Provisional government of the Algerian Republic) and Minister for the Armed forces.

Belkacem, which left Algeria after the battle of Algiers, is then combined with Ben Tobbal and Abdelhafid Boussouf against Abane Ramdane. Vice-president of the Council and Minister for the Armed forces of the GPRA in 1958, Foreign Minister in 1960, of the interior in 1961, it starts the negotiations with the France at the time of the Accords of Evian in 1962.

Belkacem is opposed to creation, by Ahmed Ben Bella, Houari Boumedienne and Mohamed Khider, of the political office of the FLN. It is not long in being forced to withdraw itself. After the coup d'etat of the June 19th 1965, Krim Belkacem returns in policy in the opposition to the dictatorship. Shown to have organized an attempted murder against Boumedienne, he is condemned to died by Contumace by Algerian justice. Exiled with Frankfurt (Germany), Krim Belkacem is found there assassinated, strangled using its tie in its hotel room the October 18th 1970; probably with the complicity of the Algerian secret services of the time. Krim Belkacem will be then rehabilitated. It rests since the October 24th 1984 with the Square of the Martyrs.
