Kraainem
Kraainem is a common Dutch-speaking to facilities of Belgium comprising approximately 13.000 inhabitants located in Flemish Région, in the Province of the Flemish Brabant. In French, one uses sometimes the old C-W communication Crainhem .
Kraainem is one of the 6 linguistic common to Facilités for the French-speaking people of the Périphérie of Brussels located in Flemish Région.
This commune overhangs the valley of the Woluwe and thus the communes of Brussels (Woluwe-Saint-Pierre and Woluwe-Saint-Lambert) inter alia. According to the results of the communal elections, one can estimate that almost 78 % of inhabitants are French-speaking. A more precise estimate is impossible since the suppression of the linguistic questions in the censuses.
As in the other common to facilities of the Periphery of Brussels, this commune knows linguistic problems (concerning the use of the administrative matter languages).
Located close to the Aéroport of Brussels, the commune undergoes also noise pollutions of the airport activities, which causes the dissatisfaction with certain residents.
