Krènidès
Krènidès (in Greek old Κρηνἱδες ), was a colony of the island of Thasos.
It is founded in 360 av. J. - C. under the direction of the Athenian politician in exile Callistratos, on Southern Piedmont of the mount Orbélos (current Lékani mount) in Eastern Macedonia. It draws its name from the presence close to sources (in Greek old Κρηνἱδες ). The small colony threatened by the close tribes thraces, and probably in conflict with its metropolis, called in 356 av. J. - C. the king of Macedonia Philippe II with his help. This last proceeded to the recasting of the city, which it renamed starting from its own name, Philips ( Φἱλιπποι / Philippoi ).
The name was taken again by it by the village close to the ancient site of Philips, built after 1922 to accommodate refugees of Asia Mineure.
