Koura (river)

The Koura (მტკვარი, Mt' kvari , in Géorgien, Azeri Kür in ) is a river of Asia which runs out of west in is between the the Caucasus itself and the the small Caucasus .
It takes its source in the extreme North-East of the Turkey, crosses the Georgia of which it sprinkles in particular the capital Tbilissi, then the Azerbaïdjan where it receives the Araxe on its Right Bank. It throws in the Caspian Sea in the south of Bakou, forming a vast alluvial delta.
The original name géorgien of Koura is Mtkvari , literally Slow the . It was however navigable formerly to Tbilissi, but the hydroelectric stoppings still reduced its flow and its depth. It moreover is more strongly polluted by the industrial centers géorgiens of Tbilissi and Roustavi, which rejects Cobalt there, tin, Nickel and Cadmium.
Since 2002, the Arménie, Azerbaïdjan and Georgia have a joint project of improvement of the basin of Koura and Araxe.
Koura was formerly rich in Esturgeon S. the silting of its course and various pollution makes that there does not exist practically any more natural abrasion. Industrial reproduction in three Azeri centers, whose experimental eclosery of Neftchala, however allows an important production of Caviar.
