Kouprey

The kouprey ( Boss sauveli ) is a related wild ox with the Banteng and the Gaur. The bulls koupreys measure until 1,90 m in height and are of color noirâtre with “bottoms” with the legs; oldest become grisâtres on the sides. The cows are smaller, of a color varying of the silver plated gray or the gray mice to brown, sometimes irregularly mottled of black. Between their forefeet, the bulls carry a long pennon which trails in grass when they advance. In the cows, the pennon has only approximately 10  cm length, but it is even longer than that of the bateng or the gaur. The koupreys are limited to a small zone with the Kampuchea, on both sides from the Mekong in the vicinity of Kosker and Chep, and extend to the Vietnam with approximately from Ban Methuot, and with the Laos in the north of the Lac Repou. They live in sparse forest and are particularly frequent in the parks. They form small herds in period of reproduction.
