Korymbos

The korymbos is a Coiffure carried by the kings Sassanides. It consists of a Chignon raised on the top of the head, in which part of the Cheveu X are gathered to form a ball, which can be wrapped in a fabric. The chignon can be also made up of false hairs.

The korymbos is an indissociable element of the crowns sassanides. One knows this hairstyle by the representations of the sovereigns sassanides on Bas-relief S, like on Statue S. It belongs to the elements being used for indentifier and to date the kings sassanides, because its style evolved/moved with the wire of the centuries. The divinities Zoroastrien born, who they are male or female (as Anahita with Taq-e Bostan) are also represented carrying a korymbos.
