Korla

Korla (库尔勒; Pinyin: Kù' ěrlè) is a city of the Western province of Xinjiang (Turkestan) in China. It is a city-county, chief town of the Mongolian autonomous Préfecture of Bayin' gholin.

Geography

Korla is close to the mountains and the desert of Taklamakan.

Climate

The climate is of continental type dry. The average temperatures go from approximately -6°C for the coldest month to +26°C for the hottest month, with an annual average of 11,7°C, and the Pluviométrie is there of 53 Misters.

Population

The population of the county was of: 343746 inhabitants in 1999.

Transport

Korla is located at approximately 320 km by the road of the provincial capital Ürümqi. There exist five daily flights of the company China Southern Airlines between the airport of Korla (Code AITA KRL) and Ürümqi.
