Recent history

  • the September 19th 2002, Korhogo was captured by the rebels being opposed to the President Laurent Gbagbo. In spite of the calls to the cease-fire of 2003, Korhogo remained unstable, subjected to the actions of the rival factions.

  • In June 2004, the honest forces with the rebellious chief, Guillaume Soro, claimed that their opponents, faithful of the chief rebels Ibrahim Coulibaly plotted to assassinate Soro. These allegations led to hostilities during which 22 people died.

  • In August 2004, the soldiers of UNO in Ivory Coast, discovered three mass graves of at least 99 corpses in the city.
