Korean roots

" Coréennes" roots; is an association gathering of the adopted French of Korean origin and the people being interested in Korea. It extended its activities to the adoption in general.

General presentation

Cash 180 members, of which a third in province, " Coréennes" roots; is an association law 1901 with nonlucrative goal, humane and cultural matter, created in 1995 by French adopted of Korean origin in order to make them share their experiment.

Association is member of the International Korea Adoptee Associations .

It defines its objectives as follows: " to be a meeting place and of Korean user-friendliness between adopted French d´origine and all those which s´intéressent with the Korea, and to support the discovery of the Korean culture " . In addition, in the humane field, it comes more particularly helps some with the orphan children in Korea who cannot be adopted.

" Coréennes" roots; publish a quarterly newspaper interns, " Hamkae" (" Ensemble"), accessible on the site from association.

Persons in charge

The founding members of association were Yolaine Cellier (president), Marie Franville (secretary), Guillaume Goullin (treasurer) and Karine Grijol. Michel Szymanski succeeded Yolaine Cellier like chair association between 1996 and 1998.

" Coréennes" roots; is currently chaired by Anne-Kim Linard (see the office of association in 2005-2006 with the following address).

Activities

Work on the adoption

Adoptees of Korean origin

In accordance with its vocation to be a place of experience sharing between the adoptees of Korean origin, association organizes monthly lunches.

She proposes each year a voyage in South Korea, open in priority to the adoptees of Korean origin and their couple.

Activities on the adoption in general

Work of association does not concern only the adoptees of Korean origin, but treats also adoption in a more general way: it thus organizes an annual conference with the Sénat on the topic of the Adoption.

Its president represents associations of people adopted within the Superior council of the adoption placed near the minister in charge for the family.

In addition, " Coréennes" roots; is associated with work of the National council for the access at the personal origins placed near the ministry in charge of health.

Cultural activities

" Coréennes" roots; organize cultural events to make known the Korean culture (concerts, language class, summer schools…).

The celebration of the Korean traditional festivals represents a big part of the activity of association - on the occasion in particular of most important of the Korean festivals, Seollal, the lunar new year. The celebration of Seollal by " Coréennes" roots; in 2006 belonged to the official events organized at the time of the 120ème birthday of the diplomatic relations between France and Korea.

Humanitarian actions

" Coréennes" roots; of the South Korean establishments helps which accommodate nonacceptable or handicapped children.

It also took part in the collection of gifts for the North Korea after the railway catastrophe of Yong Cheun.
