Korea Express train
KTX , Initials of Korea Express train , indicates the system of trains at high speed of the South Korea. It is on the technical plan a derivative of TGV French developped at the point by the company Alstom. Its maximum speed is of 300 km/h. In Korean, train at high speed says Gosok Cheoldo (Hangul: 고속철도; Hanja: 高速鐵道). The first class is designee in red and the second class in green
History
The first stage of startup of the network intervened on April 1st 2004, after 12 years of building site, with the launching of the relations Seoul - Busan (via Daejeon and Daegu) and Seoul Mokpo.- Using a new line at high speed only on the part of the course lain between Seoul and Daegu, the new service road shortens the time of way between Seoul and Busan, of 4:10 to 2:40; an additional profit of 44 min, bringing back to 1:56 run time, is awaited in 2010 when the new line is completely completed.

The line will include/understand 120 km of bridges and viaducts and 190 km of tunnels.
The park includes/understands 46 oars, including 12 built in France by Alstom, and the remainder in South Korea by local manufacturers.
An important technology transfer was authorized at the time of this project by Alstom. The lines were built with the technical assistance of the SNCF.
Traffic
The full number of users of the KTX with atteind 7 million in 100 days, then 10 million in 142 days and exceeded 40 million 1 year and 4 months after the inauguration.The daily number of users remained at only the 70.900 on average first days after the inauguration (April 2004) then is assembled to 84.700 the following year and up to 96.000 in August 2005 and continues to increase.
The forecasts are to reach the 100.000 travellers per day.
The regularity of the traffic passed from 97,4% of the trains per hour or late of less than 10 min in April 2004, to 99,7 in March 2005.
Future
The second stage must connect Daegu to Busan, while passing by Gyeongju. Its construction began in June 2002 and should be finished in 2010.Around 2015, the construction of the line at high speed between Osong, Gwangju and Mokpo is also envisaged.
Another line between Seoul and Gangneung, in north east of the peninsula, is currently being studied, and is related to the Korean candidature of Pyeongchang for the organization of the Winter Olympics of 2014.
Future rolling stock will consist of oars of the type G-7 of national design, of which 10 are currently in order.
