Kootenay national park

The National park Kootenay is a Canadian national park located in the Rocky Mountains overlapping the south-east of the British Columbia and the south-west of the Alberta. This park belongs to the whole of the Canadian Parcs of the Rocky Mountains registered on the Liste of the world heritage of UNESCO (other parks being those of Banff, Jasper and Yoho). Altitude varies from 918 m with 3.424 at the top of Deltaform Mountain.

The park is open all the year but the best season goes from June to September. Many camp-sites are open from May to September.

The park draws its name from the river Kootenay, one of the two principal rivers to cross it.
