Kolda
Kolda is a town of High Casamance, in the south of the Senegal, located near the border with the Guinea-Bissau.
History
Administration
Kolda is the chief town of the Département of Kolda and the area of Kolda.
Geography
The closest localities are Gaide, Sikilo, Faraba, Faramba and Sisal.
Geological physics
The vegetation and pluviometry are abundant. The wet season lasts five months, from June at October, and the dry season from November to May.The average annual temperature is of 27,7°C with a maximum of 34,9°C in April, May and October, and a minimum of 20,4°C in January and August.
Population
At the time of the censuses of 1988 and 2002, Kolda respectively counted 34.337 and 53.921 inhabitants. In 2007, according to the official estimates, the population would be of 62.258 inhabitants.It is in majority made up of Peuls.
Economy
A Research center zootechnical (CRZ) was created in Kolda in 1972.
