Koban
A koban is a small police station to the Japan. There are of them almost thousand with Tokyo and more than six thousand in Japan.
The exact translation of Koban is KB = intersection, and Round of applause = guard.
These small structures are dependant on a larger police station (approximately one by district of Tokyo). In each one of them, from three to eight police officers assemble the guard, control with Vélo the safety of the territory with which they are charged.
However, their mission is also to give directions to the citizens, because of extreme difficulty of finding itself in the Japanese capital. They have also the responsibility of count the casualties and deaths in the road accidents to Tokyo. They have for that a yellow backlighted table, where are clearly posted the daily newspapers number of victims. They have finally the responsibility of help drunk people in the street. It is not rare to see Salaryman lengthened on the pavements in the streets of the capital. They would be comparable with a “ proximité  organizes; ” omnipresent in the city. They besides are very well perceived by the population, because they are of a Patience and a incredible Politesse.
It should be noted that the Architecture of some of these police stations is absolutely remarkable. They seem that the architectural services responsible for the construction of these buildings worry particularly about the atmosphere and the Histoire about the Lieu before its establishment. Small Manor French in the old port of Nagasaki, futuristic aluminum with Shinagawa or Shimbashi, concrete with Kabukicho, mirrors with Ginza, they want to be the Reflet place which they are supposed to keep.
The Concept was extremely well exported besides, since countries like the Thailand and the Brésil adopted this system by preserving some the original name of " Koban ". It seems that this system is more powerful, nearer to the population but also more ecological because of systematic use of bicycle and not of car of patrol.
