Košice
Košice (traditionally Cassovie ; German Kaschau in and Kassa in Hungarian of the time of the Austria-Hungary) is the larger second Ville of the Slovakia. Located in the valley Hornád and encircled by the mountains of the Čierna Hora in north and the hills of the Volovské vrchy in the west, it is located only at 20 km of Hungary, 80 km of the Ukraine, and 90 km of the Poland, country with which it has important economic exchanges.
Košice is regional capital (Kraj: Autonomous region of Košice). The city the seat of several universities, the Constitutional court of Slovakia and the évêché S roman catholic, Lutheran and catholic Greek.
History
Cassovie was strengthened at the end of the 12th century by the king Émeric of Hungary. In 1270, Etienne V, and later André III increased it. In 1441 it supported a seat against the forces of Bohème.
