Knock

Cogne is an Italian commune Val of Aoste, located at the end of the side valley of the same nom.
Cogne is located in the park of the Grand Paradise.

Mining industry

The place was also famous for its mines of Fer, located on the slopes of the Mont Creya. They were probably exploited as of Antiquity, certainly in XVe century, and until 1978. The Magnétite which one extracted fed iron and steel industry " Cogne" , located at Aoste. The exploitation and the requirements out of fuel to melt the ore undoubtedly explain why the slope of the Creya mount is entirely deforested.

Tourism and winter sports

The valley of knocks is one of the alpine paradises of the Cascade of ice and the ski touring.

  • Veulla is the chief town, and trouveà side of a projecting ledge called Prés of Saint-Bear.

  • Gimillan offers one of the most beautiful panoramas on the basin of Knocks.
  • the valley is divided into two small valleys, in the west is the Valnontey , in the south, Valeille, where the marvellous cascades of Lillaz are.
