Kjell Inge Røkke

Kjell Inge Røkke , born the October 25th 1958 with Molde, is a Norwegian business man and one of largest fortunes of Norway. It controls one of the most important companies of the country, the group Kværner.

Røkke started at 17 years like simple fisherman, and studies to share like it did not follow says it itself, " the university of the rue". During several years, he worked in fishing. He is involved in debt to acquire its first trawler to make campaigns with broad of the Alaska. Taking many risks, it is constituted in the Eighties, a fleet of trawlers and builds its first fortune. With the beginning of the year 1990, it starts to acquire very varied companies, often in difficulty, restructures them and resells them with benefit. In 1996, it amalgamates its young group RGI with the old shipyards Aker. In 2001, it takes the control of Kvaerner, leader Norwegian of the oil offshore oil rig, in quasi bankruptcy after a bad investment. It gathers then all its naval construction under the name of Aker Yards which includes/understands shipyards in Finland and ex-GDR. Aker Yards acquired in January 2006, the Chantiers of the Atlantic to Saint-Nazaire. It was disengaged of Aker Yards in March 2007.

Røkke with the reputation of a hard man in business, treated by certain media of flibustier of industry and often criticized for its lifestyle (according to the Norwegian Protestant standards), noisy and extravagant, being made for example build a " cottage" with Oppdal for more than 150 million Norwegian crowns (20 € million). But it has also the reputation to be a businessman warned, which can smell the skilleds and recently (2005) Norwegian the Prime Minister, of left, quoted in example its dynamism.

Røkke and another businessman Bjørn Rune Gjelsten were recipient in the removal of the football club Wimbledon F.C of London to Milton Keynes in 2002, obligant the supporters of Wimbledon to find their own club, AFC Wimbledon. It is also one to support Molde F.K, club of its birthplace and financed the construction of Molde Stadium.
