Kitchener is a Canadian city located at the south-west of the province of the Ontario. It belongs to the regional municipality of Waterloo which is located at 100 km in the west of Toronto. In 2001, its population was of 190.399 inhabitants.
Before 1916, the city was called Berlin. But in the context of the First World War and hostility towards the Germany, the citizens chose to re-elect the city in the honor of the British general Lord Kitchener.
The municipal council includes/understands a mayor and six advisers.
