Kirviller

Kirviller is a common French located in the department of the the Moselle and the basin of life of the Moselle-is.

Geography

History

The village suffers seriously from the Thirty Year old Guerre at the 17th century, as a document of attests it 1637 and due to the lord of the manor of Albestroff: " With Überkinger, Wentzwiller, Steinbach, Schweix, Audviller, Hazembourg and Kirviller has not resided anybody for one year, the villages being abandoned. "

But the storm passed, with the passing of years, the village is repopulated, until recovering a real existence, in particular by the construction of a church. This one is set up in 1856, act highly symbolic system for the last catholic village before the Protestant Alsace .

Although belonging incontestably to the German-speaking sector, the commune sees régulièremtn passing its instruments, in particular authenticated, in French language, without one being able to find explanation to this practice.
