Kirchheim
Kirchheim is a common French, located in the department of the the Low-Rhine and the area Alsace.
Geography
Kirchheim is located at the foot of the under-Vosgean hills, with the western limit of the plain of Alsace. It is distant of 22 km in the west of Strasbourg and 19 km in the south-east of Saverne. Its communes bordering are: Marlenheim in north, Odratzheim and Scharrachbergheim-Irmstett in the south and Wangen in the North-West.
Crossed by the secondary road 220, connected to RD 1004 with less than one kilometer in north, Kirchheim has an rapid access to a major axis of circulation connecting Saverne to Strasbourg. The old railway Molsheim - Saverne, today displaced and developed by a cycle track, crosses the commune. It is served in public transport by the network 67 (managed by the Département of the Low-Rhine) on lines 207 (Wasselonne - Strasbourg) and 212 (Molsheim - Wasselonne).
The commune is sprinkled by the Mossig which runs out of north towards the south and which constitutes the limit is round of applause. the most remarkable ecosystem is that of the Ripisylve river. It constitutes a biological corridor for the life and the displacement of fauna. It is necessary to note the presence proven on the communal territory of the large Hamster of Alsace, species extremely threatened and protected.

History
The village of Kirchheim (Chirichheim at the 7th century) could exist as of the Roman epoch (vestiges). At the time mérovingienne, a royal residence is attested; the Carolingian kings frequently remain there: Charles the Large and the Richarde empress.
Well on Empire, the village depended on Wasselonne of which it shared the destiny before passing to the town of Strasbourg. The convent of Haslach there had a domanial court and held some rights. A monastery of nuns is announced to the 12th century (in 1274, Rodolphe de Habsbourg took it under its protection).
Kirchheim belonged to the chapter of Molsheim: its church was church-mother of Marlenheim and Odratzheim, who remained her subsidiary company until at the beginning of the 19th century.
The blazon represents an open book and an inking-pad and testifies to the presence in the commune of several printing works with 15th and 16th centuries.
Administration
The commune adheres, via the Communauté of communes of the Door of the Vineyard, in the Schéma of territorial coherence of the area of Strasbourg (SCOTERS) and also takes part in the Pays Beetle-Mossig-Piedmont.

The profit of population between 1968 and 1975 is due to the construction of an allotment which supported the arrival of new inhabitants.
