Kingman reef
The reef Kingman is a lagoon annexed by the the United States in 1922 being halfway between the Hawaii and the American Samoa. Initially, water of the reef was used like a zone of sea landing for the seaplanes connecting Hawaii and Samoa.
The reef, frequently covered by water, exceeds only one meter the surface of the Pacific Ocean, and consequently he is not inhabited. On the other hand, neighbouring water contains a flora and an abundant fauna.
