King Records

King records is a founded Independent label American in 1944 by Sydney Nathan with Cincinnati. Initially specialized in the Country music (the “Hillbilly boogy”), the firm quickly turned to the Rhythm and blues. Nathan created then the under-label Queen and Federal. It repurchased the companies Deluxe and Betlehem Records. When Syd Nathan died in 1968, the company was sold in Starday and became “Starday and King Records”. It was taken again in 1970 by the famous duet of authors type-setters Jerry Leiber & Mike Stoller, which resold it almost at once in Lin Broadcasting which immediately transferred it to Gusto Records. Since 2001, Collectables Records remasterisé and republished part of the King catalog.
