Kim Yong-hwan
Kim Yong-hwan (born in 1912 and died in 1998) is a draftsman of Manhwa. He is regarded as the father of the manhwa.
Kim Yong-hwan learns the pen-and-ink drawing in a school from the Art schools in Japan and starts to publish her first drawings in Japan as assistant of Ejima Dakeo to illustrate the Encyclopédie Sanseido editions. At the same time, it publishes its first mangas under the name of Gita Koji in magazines for teenagers.
In 1945, to the Release, it returns to Korea and creates for the newspaper of English language, the Seoul Times its work principal: the professor Kojubu ( Kojubu Samgukji ). In black and white, with two fine moustache, in complete black, tie and bowler hat, Professor Kojubu is the first popular character of band-drawn Korean. While continuing to make live her preferred character, Kim Yong-hwan publishes very many cartoons of topicality or for children. It surprises by its speed of work. September 15th 1948, it founds the Manhwa Haengjing (the manhwa moving) which is the first review entirely devoted to the data base, but this one must cease its publication as of the second number, victim of the censure. However, the following year at the sides of Kim Seong-hwan, Shing Dong-heon, Kim Have-hwan or Lee Yong-chun he collaborates in the review Manhwas news .
During the War of Korea, it creates among many other series or illustrations the soldier Todori, series in which it proposes the courage of the Korean soldiers of the South.
After the war, he is regarded as the father of the manhwa and deploys a strong activity like central figure of the Korean data base.
