Kim (language)

The kim is a spoken language with the Chad, mainly in the area of the Mayo-Kebbi Is, department of the Mayo-Boneye.

Approximately 15.000 speakers.

She is spoken traditionally in four villages:
  • Kim
  • Era
  • Djoumane
  • Kolobo
She is also spoken in small groups installed along the river Chari, in particular downstream from Ndjamena, like in the towns of Bongor and Ndjamena.

Statute

The kim, like all the other national languages of Chad, does not profit from any official statute.

Article 9 of the Constitution known as: the official languages are French and Arabic. The law fixes the conditions of promotion and development of the national languages.
