Kiewa
The river Kiewa is one of the principal affluents of the Murray, the most important river of Australia. The river provides 40% of the water of the river.
The river takes its source close to the Mont Bogong, in the the Alps victoriennes. It is initially a torrent which runs towards north on a hundred kilometers before slowing down its race and joining Murray in the west of Albury.
The course of the river is cut close to its source by hydroelectric stations whose the two principal ones are " McKay Creek" and " West Kiewa".
The two rivers which forms the river, Kiewa are and western run initially in the middle of almost virgin forests of eucalyptus to their confluence close to the village of " Mount Beauty". From there the river will take a course much calmer, curving among the farms until its junction with Murray.
The valley of Kiewa is occupied by four villages: Mount Beauty, Tawonga, Kiewa Township and Yackandandah
