Khursaniyah

Khursaniyah is an oil reservoir discovered in 1956, and gas located in Saudi Arabia. It is located onshore (but the littoral touches) at the north of Ghawar. It was exploited rather slightly and given up in the years 1990. The layer is into full redéveloppement, it is one of the great projects of the Aramco. The project includes also the layers close to Abu Hadriya, Fadhili (one often speaks about project AFK).

The production must begin in December 2007. The three layers should give 500.000 barrils/days of light crude oil, which in fact a very important addition, even on the scale of Saudi Arabia. The associated gas will be treated to produce 310.000 barrils/days of liqudies of natural gas (such as LPG) and of commercial gas.

The contracts were signed in 2003, principal the project superintendent are Snamprogetti, Technip and Bechtel, and the entire investment is estimated at approximately 1 billion euros. The project includes/understands notemment 54 well in the three layers, of the installations of collection and treatment of oil and gas, from the means of extraction of suffers and the essential pipelines.

It is difficult to estimate the reserves. the EIA gives a figure of 3.5 billion barrils (GB) for Khursinayah, 1.8 to 2 for Abu Hadriya and 1 to 1.2 for Fadhili, without it being known if it is of estimates published by external Aramco or expetise, if they include or not the natural gas liquids, etc an estimate of the Seventies gave 4 GB for Khursinayah.
