Khanat of the Crimea
Of 1430 with 1783 the Tatars established an independent country, the khanat of the Crimea , resulting from the division of the Horde of Gold. In 1475, the khanat must accept the suzerainty of the Ottoman Empire, the sultan having conquered the colonies génoises prequ' island and driven out Mengli Giray which wanted to keep its independence. Later, Mengli Giray will return to the capacity, by recognizing vassal Door, acceptor to pay tribute and to mobilize themselves at the request of the sultan. Thus in 1497, Tatars of the Crimea helped to overcome the Polish troops which had ventured in Moldavie, on the request of the Othomans. In 1511, the khanat provides to the future Othoman Sultan Selim Ier, governor of province, the troops to extend the Ottoman Empire.
In 1569, the khanat attacked Astrakhan, which had passed under the control of Russia. Two years later, Tatars, under the orders of the Khan Devlet I Giray, launched a raid against Moscow, making approximately 100.000 prisoners. In 1578, the khanat helped the Ottoman Empire in a war against the Perses.
The area fell under Russian influence in 1774, after the War Russo-Othoman (1768 -1774). The Traité of Iassy which was signed made leave the khanat the Crimea of the Othoman bosom to transfer it in the Russian Empire.
