Went Khallidi (rear RTL ألاخلّدي), meaning Rendez eternal , is the National anthem of the Tunisia between 1958 and 1987. It is adopted to replace the Hymne beylical after the abolition of monarchy the July 25th 1957.

The secretariat of State to education organizes, in 1958, a contest for the choice of a national anthem in which 53 Poète S. the results take part are initially examined by a commission of the secretariat of State which chooses the work of the poet Jalaleddine Naccache. Later on, 22 type-setters enter in competition to put in music the selected poem. Works are recorded with the seat of Radio Tunis and must remain anonymous until the moment of the final verdict. The commission selects the music of the type-setter Salah El Mahdi (then directing of the academy of Tunis). Then, works will be presented (without revealing the selected anthem) to the president Habib Bourguiba who will validate the choice. The anthem will become official the March 20th 1958. The official version is played by the Symphony orchestra of Tunis Radio under the direction of Louis Gava.

However, this anthem contains a Towards which refers directly to the person of president Bourguiba: “Nakhudh-ul-lahib biruh-it-Habib Zai `im-it-watan” (We face fire, with the spirit of Habib, leader of the fatherland). This is why, after the inversion of Bourguiba the November 7th 1987, Ala Khallidi is replaced, the November 12th, by Humat Al-Hima .
