Khakyab Dorje

The 15th Karmapa, Khakyab Dorje (1871 - 1922)

Khakyab Dorje was born in the village from Shelkor in the area from the U-Tsang, central Tibet. To the birth, it presented important auspicieux signs, " a treasure of cheveux" pushing on its eyelids. This is one of the 32 marks of an enlightened being and was noticed on the young person Gautama Bouddha.

9th Kyabgön Drukchen recognized and established Khakyab Dorje. The 15th Karmapa grows by receiving a complete education famous scholars, it accepted the whole cycle of the lesson Kagyu of Jamgon Kongtrul Lodrö Taye which passed also the gasoline to him of its hundreds of compositions which embraced the major lesson of all the Buddhist traditions Tibetans, as well as those relating to medicine, art, linguistics, and of the general Buddhist studies. He also studied with Khenchen Tashi Özer and well of others. He travelled through the Tibet transmitting lesson and initiations. He identified the reincarnations of Jamgon Kongtrul Lodrö Taye and of Taï Sitou Rinpoché and carried out the ritual ones with their respective establishment.

The 15th Karmapa was the first of the line of the Karmapa S which Maria. The 15th Karmapa, was informed by dreams that to prolong its life, it was to take for wife an emanation of Yogini Yeshe Tsogyal (wife, disciple, and spiritual heiress of Padmasambhava). The emanation envisaged in its dreams was Urgyen Tsomo, which had been born in a family living close to Tsourphou. When it was found, it was sixteen years old. Equipped with spontaneous realization, it made the practice of purification of Dorje Namdjoma for Karmapa, which was at this time very seriously sick. It been able to prolong the life of 15th Karmapa during nine years.

The 15th Karmapa and Urgyen Tsomo had three wire, of which second Jamgön Kongtrul and 12th Shamarpa, Jamyang Rinpoche.

The 15th Karmapa also reprinted many texts which had become rare and difficult to obtain. Its closest disciples were Situ Pema Wangchog Gyalpo, Jamgön Palden Khyentse Özer and Beru Khyentse Lodrö Mizay Jampa' I Gocha. A few years before its passage, he entrusted a letter of prediction to his assistant nearest, the 11th Taï Sitou Rinpoché. He died in its fifty-and-unième year.
