Biography

Kevin Moore was born on May 26th, 1967 with Long Island.

It started to play college in the group Centurion with John Petrucci and John Myung, then carries out its musical training at the music school of Fredonia.

In 1985, John Petrucci, John Myung and Mike Portnoy, pupils at the music school of Berklee and eager to found a group, recontact it. Thus is born the group Majesty, which will leave a demonstration 6 songs into 1986 before being called Dream Theater.

In 1989, the group leaves When Dream and Day Unite , then Images and Words in 1992 and Awake in 1994. Kevin Moore leaves the group right after the exit of this album (on which figure its personal composition Space Dye Vest ), continuations with musical divergences and in spite of the oppositions of its departure of the four other members. It will be directed towards the electronic music and experimental.

It then founds its own group, Chroma Key, which is the reflection of its music. Y take part the guitarist Jason Anderson like Mark Zonder and Joey Vera, members of Fates Warning.

Kevin Moore took part in some albums of Fates Warning: in Perfect Symetry he exploits the song At Fates Hands , and he plays all the keyboards on the albums “off has Pleasant Shade Gray” and Disconnected .

In 2003, it appears on parallel project OSI where also take part Mike Portnoy, Jim Matheos, Sean Malone and Steven Wilson.

At the end of 2003, it creates the original soundtrack of a Turkish Film of horror named Okul .

Style

Contrary to many clavierists in the field of the progressive Metal, Kevin Moore does not drown its listeners under an avalanche of notes, but concentrates more on the emotion, the tension and the atmosphere. Its solos, in Dream Theater, are not overloaded notes and effects, but contain the right share of technicality which gives them direction.

One will also note that he wrote the words of many songs for Dream Theater, like all those of Chroma Key and OSI.
