Kertch
Kertch (in Ukrainian: Керч; in Russian: Керчь, in tatar of the Crimea: Kerç, in Old Slavic Eastern: Корчев) is a town of the Eastern Crimea, in Ukraine. It is located at the end of the Péninsule of Kertch. It is an important industrial center, of transport and tourism. Its name comes from old Slavic Eastern' the къркъ ', which means throat , referring to the strait of the same name which faces the city and which the old Greeks named Bosphorus. Its population rose with: 157000 inhabitants in 2001.
