Kent Nagano

Kent Nagano (born the November 22nd 1951 with Berkeley, in California) is a American Leader of ascent Japan ease.

Biography

It grew in Morro Bay, in California.

It made its studies at the University of California with Santa Cruz, then in San Francisco State University.

From 1988 to 1998, he was the musical director of the national Opéra of Lyon.

In 2006, it is named musical director of the Symphony orchestra of Montreal (after of having been the musical adviser) and of the Opera of Bavaria.

In November 2005, it was made doctor Honoris causa of the Université McGill. A few months later, in April 2006, it is the Université of Montreal which also returned this honor to him.

September 6th, 2006, it took part in its first concert as a musical director and a leader with the Symphony orchestra of Montreal which took place in the room Wilfrid-Furrier of the Place of Arts (Montreal, Canada). Played work was the Ninth symphony of Beethoven. The event was presented to the French-speaking televisual chain of Radio-Canada and into simultaneous with the radio station Space-Music of Radio-Canada (100,7 FM). A giant screen installed on the esplanade of the Place of Arts made it possible the general public to take share with the event.

Married with the pianist Kodama Husband. They have a girl, Karin Kei Nagano, which, with old 8 years already, has gains three contests of piano.
