Kenshin Himura

Kenshin Himura () is the main character of the Manga Kenshin the vagrant .

It is him the famous Battōsai the assassin (in Japanese, hitokiri battōsai , 人斬り抜刀斎).

Become wandering with the advent of the era Meiji, he wanders without goal in the country. He always carries the saber, which often causes him problems with the authorities (the port of the saber was interdict in 1870).

Its saber is with reversed blade, it cannot thus kill anybody in combat. Nothing would however prevent it from turning over the blade in order to use its saber, but it prohibits it.

Here what he says about his technique to the saber: the technique of Battōsai does not come from the Kamiya school but from the school of Hiten Mitsurugi, which finds its origin at the time of the warriors. Its teaching makes it possible to only face several enemies thanks to an old high-speed technique which makes it possible to make fly even with a saber with blade reversed. (逆刃刀)

Its nickname Battōsai comes from the technique of the battō-jutsu (抜刀術), that Kenshin controls to perfection and who consists in attacking by decladding the saber with the horizontal position, which increases the speed of the blade considerably.

After having completed the restoration of the era Meiji and to have assassinated for that, he swore to defend all the people that he could and that without more never having to kill.

After having helped Kaoru to save the reputation of sound Dōjō, there agrees to remain some time with it, not as Battōsai, but as a simple vagrant.
