Kenneth Branagh
Kenneth Charles Branagh , more known under the name of Kenneth Branagh , is an actor and British realizer , born the December 10th 1960 with Belfast.
Biography
It passes its childhood to Belfast up to 9 years and arrives to England, with Reading, where it will continue off studies with the Royal Academy Dramatic Art.Left the school, in 1982, Branagh begins on the London boards in Another Country, where it off gains the Price of the Best hope of the Society West End Theaters. But it is its role in Henry V for the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) at the 23 years age which guarantees its position like one of the best new talents of the British scene. In 1987, the actor separates from the RSC, considering the priorities of the establishment more bureaucratic than artistic and undertakes to found his own company, named Renaissance Company Theater with his friend actor David Parfitt. If the first part, Public Enemy (played, written and directed by Kenneth Branagh itself), is a failure, blaming in particular the megalomania of the young author. Fortunately, the following productions of the STN, the Night of the kings , Much of noise for nothing and Hamlet like criticisms. Branagh is then called “new the Laurence Olivier”.
In parallel, in 28 years, Branagh publishes an autobiography, entitled Beginning , to finance its company of theater. In addition it meets Emma Thompson, which it marries in 1989, forming a mythical couple at the city as with the screen.
In 1989, Branagh passes behind the camera with the film adaptation of the part of Shakespeare Henry V produced by Gerard Depardieu. This film meets a great critical and international success then, the year even of the disappearance of Laurence Olivier. Then another success with the black film Dead Again (1991), the bitter comedy Peter' S Friends (1992) and Much of noise for nothing (1993), where it divides the poster with Denzel Washington and Keanu Reeves which obtains a quotation in Independent Spirit Award of best film. But he knows then its first great failure with Mary Shelley' S Frankenstein (with Robert De Niro) in 1994.
Then Branagh finances its following film, a small comedy in black and white, very personal: In the Bleak Midwinter (With the right in the middle of the winter). For the first time, he does not play in one of his films. But little time after it interprets the Iago traitor in Othello of Oliver Parker (in 1995, year when its divorce of with Emma Thompson is marked).
In 1996, Kenneth Branagh carries out its dream to adapt Hamlet (surely one of its philosopher's stones) on big screen (a 4 hour old film in its long version), where it cumulates the functions of adapter, producer, actor and director, quoted in several categories with the Oscars and gaining many prices.
After this exhausting adventure, author-interprets it will more readily agree to let itself direct, than it is by Robert Altman in The Gingerbread Man (1998) or Woody Allen for Celebrity , forsaking even its traditional image to interpret the extravagant one and démoniaque Dr. Loveless in Wild Wild West in 1999.
It passes by again behind the camera for a fourth adaptation of the work of Shakespeare, with lost Peines of love (1999) in a film paying homage to the musical comedies. In 2000, it lends its voice to the character of Miguel in the Road of Eldorado and it is with the poster of How to kill the dog of its neighbor , of Michael Kalesniko. In 2002, it obtains the role of the professor of defense against the forces of the evil Gilderoy Lockhart for Harry Potter and the room of the secrecies , of Chris Columbus.
