The Kenan Stadium is a stage of American football of 60.000 places located on the campus of the Université of North Carolina - Chapel Hill at Chapel Hill (the United States). The university football team American of the North Carolina Tar Heels evolves/moves in this inaugurated enclosure the November 12th 1927. This stage is the property of the Université of North Carolina.
Kenan Stadium replaced the Emerson Field which offered only 2400 sitted places. The capacity of 24.000 places in 1927 is quickly carried in 40.000 places by the addition of provisional platforms. The stage was entirely renovated in 1963 and its capacity is carried in 48.000 places, then 50.000 in 1979, 52.000 in 1988 and 60.000 in 1998. The construction of the stage and work of 1963 were financed by gifts of the industrialist William R. Kenan Jr., graduate of North Carolina in 1897. The stage bears since its inauguration its name in its honor.
