Ken Catchpole
Kenneth William Catchpole , more known like Ken Catchpole , was born the June 21st 1939 in Paddington (Australia). He is a former player of Rugby to XV Australia N which played with the team of Australia of 1961 with 1968 (27 selections). He played half of fray.
Ken Catchpole evolved/moved initially within the team of Randwick of less than 21 years before integrating the team first. At the 19 years age, it represents the New South Wales Rugby Union for the first time (26 selections) to face the '' British Lions '' in round in Australia.
Ken Catchpole received its first cape with the team of Australia at 22 years, in June 1961, at the time of a match against the team of Fiji. Its last test match was against the New Zealand in June 1968. It belongs to the rare Australian players (nine at the 3/31/2007) to have been captain during his first selection.
In 1961 it leads the team of Australia in round in South Africa. It goes back there in 1963.
The hinge which it forms with the half opening Phil Hawthorne becomes legendary, because this pair of half leads the team to historical victories like a series of two Test match S in South Africa in 1965 and victories against the Wales and the England in the round over the British ground of 1966-1967. Ken Catchpole was the captain.
Ken Catchpole played 27 times for Australia, including 13 as captain. It put an end to its career prematurely following a serious wound during the second test match against the New Zealand in 1968.
