Keidanren
The Japanese Keidanren (known as commonly Keidanren) is the employers' federation of the Entreprise S of the Japan (in particular the Keiretsu). One lends the implementation to him on the long run of development of Japanese industry, in narrow partnership with the State (thanks to METI).
Chaired by Hiroshi Okuda (chairman of Toyota) until May 2006, it is now directed by Fujio Mitarai (chairman of Canon). The new president should accelerate the new orientations outlined by his predecessor: promotion of the liberal reforms (free-trade, new privatizations after those of the Post office, pressure to the fall of the public expenditure…). He announced to attack the file of public social protection (by supporting competition) and to support decentralization. He will have to also attack the opacity maintained by the large conglomerates in their accountancy, in particular those of the companies of the building, closely related to the political community.
At June 20th, 2006, Keidanren gathers 1351 industrial companies, 130 associations, and 47 regional employers' federations.
