Kef

Kef (rear RTL الكاف) is a town of Tunisia and the Chef-lieu of the governorship of the same name.

Located at the North-West of the country, 175 kilometers in the west of Tunis and at 40 kilometers in the east of the border Algeria, Kef is, since highest Antiquité, the main city of High-Such and the Tunisian North-West of which it constitutes, until a recent date, the political center, the most important religious center and the dominant fortified town. It is the highest big city of Tunisia (780 m of altitude).

The current town suit is distributed between 2 delegations: Western Kef East and Kef. Its current Superficie urbanized is of 2500 Hectare S of which 45 are located inside the old ramparts of the Médina. It counts 45.191 inhabitants (Recensement of 2004).
