History

Kayo Dot was born into 2003 from ashes from the Maudlin group off the Well, the old group of progressive metal of Toby Driver and Greg Massi. The same year appeared the first album " Choirs Off The Eye" on Tzadik Records, the label of John Zorn. It was necessary to wait January 2006 to see appearing the second, " Dowsing Anemone With Copper Tongue" on Robotic Worsens Records. The next summer, Kayo Dot left an album " split" in collaboration with Bloody Panda, a group of Doom metal. The disc being divided between the two groups, one finds there only that one piece of KD, divided into two " parts; Don' T Touch Dead Animals". This year rich in exits did not prevent Toby Driver from returning to sign on Tzadik Records, the time of an album solo.

At the end of the round of 2006, the very unstable formation already passed from 7 members to the 2 original members, Toby Driver and to the violonist Mia Matsumiya. Nevertheless, Kayo Dot is signed for a third album on Hydra Head Records for a recording in spring 2007 and one publication in at the beginning of 2008.

In parallel, Toby Driver and Mia Matsumiya which collaborate in duet under the name of " Tartar Lamb" (occasionally accompanied by the trumpet player and the beater by Friendly Bears) recorded their continuation " 60 Metonymies" in concert at the beginning of 2007, and are in the search of a label for its publication.
