Kayar
Kayar is a coastal small town of the Senegal located at 60 km in the north of Dakar, on the Large-Coast.
History
Geography
The closest localities are Deni Guedj, Niaf Nangou, Tieudem, Kaniak, Keur Abdou Ndoye and Ndoguene.
Population
At the time of the census of 2002, the population was of 16.257 inhabitants.In 2007, according to the official estimates, Kayar would count 18.010 people.
Economic activities
Artisanal fishing is the main activity of Kayar. Each evening of the hundreds of Pirog S discharge on the beach from the tons from fish which will nourish the population of the Presqu'île of Cape Verde.The local Council of artisanal fishing (CLPA) was installed in Kayar by the Director of Oceanography and maritime fishings.
The many attempts at clandestine immigration at the beginning of Kayar recently drew the attention of the media to this village of fishermen.
