Kayapo

The Kayapos ( Kayapó , Caiapó ) are a Native-born people of Brazil; one of the 17 nations residing in the valley of the Rio Xingu, in the south of the basin of the the Amazon, in the plains of the States of the Mato Grosso and the Pará. They speak the kayapo, one of the Langues I-kaingang.

One counts approximately: 7096 Kayapos (in 2003) dispersed in various tribes (Kayapo Gorotire, Xicrin, Metuktire, Kuben-Kran Ken, Txcucaramae…) who live on indigenous territories of the Brazilian States of the Pará and Mato Grosso.
