Kayamb

Also called maravanne with Maurice, the kayamb is a flat Musical instrument used in the Mascareignes to play the Séga and the Maloya.

Constitution

Formed of Reed X or stems of flowers of Cane to sugar, the kayamb is filled with seeds of cascavelle or Conflore which produces a its characteristic when they are entrechoquent.

Use

The player of kayamb shakes his instrument with the assistance of the two hands while cambering himself slightly forwards. Horizontal, the movement is impelled end of the Doigt S. It is relatively energetic so that the seeds contained inside strike the walls simultaneously and produce a homogeneous sound.
