Kavangoland

The Kavangoland was a autonomous Bantoustan located in the North-East of the Namibia between 1973 and 1989. It gathered African of the Ethnie Kavango and the official language was the RuKwangali.

History

The Bantustan of Kavangoland was created in October 1970 following the Commission Report Odendaal of 1964. It reached autonomy in May 1973.

It reinstated Namibia in May 1989 in the areas of Kavango and Caprivi.

Geography

Kavangoland was located in the North-East of Namibia and included/understood the major part of the Bande of Caprivi. It had a border with the Angola and the Botswana.

Policy

The democratic Alliance of Turnhalle (Democratic Turnhalle Alliance or DTA in English) was with the capacity of Kavangoland of 1981 with 1989.

Flag

The Drapeau was defined in the section two of Kavango Flag Act of 1973.

The green refers to the luxuriant vegetation whereas the orange, the white and blue refer to the colors of the old flag of South Africa.

The flag was abandoned in May 1989 with the rehabilitation of the Bantustan in Namibia.
