Katsina

Katsina is the capital of the State de Katsina, in the north of the Nigeria, on the river banks éponyme.

History

The history of Katsina goes back at least to the 11th century, date on which king Murabus makes build the wall of 21  km length and bored of seven doors which still surrounds the city. It is then a city-state haoussa directed by the Sarki , a king of semi-divine nature, but which risks the capital punishment in the event of incompetence. 17th at the 18th century Katsina is the commercial heart of the Royaume haoussa, and most important of the 7 city-state. In 1807 Katsina is conquered at the time of the Jihad carried out by the Peuls of Usman daN Fodio, its capacity decreases then with the profit of Kano. In 1903 the emir de Katsina is subjected to the capacity Britannique.
