Katima Mulilo
Katima Mulilo is a small town of 22 700 inhabitants (2001), place chief of the area of Caprivi in the North-East of the Namibia.
Located on the river Zambezi, the city was created by the British colonial authorities in 1935 to replace Schuckmannsburg, the old local capital established by German.
Separatists prevail in the area. In 1999, their actions pushed nearly 20000 people to take refuge with the Botswana. A family of French tourists coming from the Zimbabwe was also attacked whereas it crossed the Bande of Caprivi (the parents survived but the three children were killed).
